Native Planting

The gardening season will soon be here and volunteers are welcomed to help in the Native Planting on the Dequindre Cut Walking, Jogging, and Biking Trail. At the Native Planting you can learn about native plants, receive some great exercise and fulfill your New Year’s Resolution of getting more actively involved with the Detroit Garden Center. If you know of a group or organization that would like to volunteer for a community workday, please contact the Detroit Garden Center to schedule a specific date and time(weekday, weekend, evening).

Starting in May, we meet on the first and third Wednesdays for the months of May – September. Volunteer hours are 9:00 am – 11:30 am.   Parking is available in the gated parking lot next to the planting. Entrance to the parking lot is on Woodbridge just east of Orleans St.  If possible, notify the Garden Center the day before you plan on volunteering. Monetary donations are always needed to purchase plants to complete the site. Master Gardener Volunteer Hours can be earned.
