Morning Glories and Moonflowers
by Anne Halpin, 1996.
Garden magazines, plant and seed catalogs, and garden shops seem to have many new varieties of morning glories. Moonflowers also are quite popular. The author explains how she used these plants on and around rather shabby houses to conceal the faults of the house and to just generally dress them up. Included is a chapter on vines and basket plants to grow. You are sure to find something new that you just might have to try.
America's Famous and Historic Trees
by Jeffrey G. Meyer and Sharon Linnea, 2001.
Meyer shares the story about how his interest in the outdoors and trees was peeked. After graduating from college in the 80s with a major in history and business, he took a job in sales. While traveling the state of Florida, he saw all the new construction and also the great destruction of trees. Thus his business was born. He writes about many historic trees in the U.S. and gives directions to help you grow your own. Read about the Elvis Presley pin oak, the Frederick Douglass white ash, the Amelia Earhart sugar maple and many others.
The New Book of Salvias: Sages for every garden
by Betty Clebsch, 2003.
Salvia conjures up a picture in our minds. It may be the bright red flowers or the blue salvias more popular in recent years. Salvias can be annual, biennial or perennial. They grow from sea level to 11,000 feet and come from many different parts of the world. This is Betty Clebsch's second book on salvias and she has added 50 more varieties bringing the total covered to about 150. She explains everything you propagation techniques. Osborne shares might need to know and has included color photographs.
Hardy Roses
by Robert Osborne, 2001.
This new updated version of Hardy Roses is very much like the 1991 paperback edition, also in our library. The basics of rose growing and propagation are explained at length. Pictures of roses are included, as well as all the pertinent information about the varieties he has found successful. Beautiful book.
